Final weigh in

Thie contest is shrinking to a close...get it shrinking haha, and I must say I didn't hit every goal but I am happy with where I am for now.  As i have said in the pat this is a full year journey for me and in Dec. I hope to be at every goal. I will be 135 by Christmas and I will be 20%.  I will no longer have the paper to keep me accointable but I will have my family, friends, and new clothes to do that job for me.  Good luck everyone i hope the scale reflects all your hard work.

checking in

Here's a laugh for everybody.  Be glad you weren't at the East end Y on Thursday. I was wearing my favorite red running shorts for the last time...they fell off.   I love the fact that I am losing my love handles!

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ~ Winston Churchill

What is failure?  What is success?  What if you can have both...at the same time?

During the last six months of my weight lose journey I have asked myself these questions time and again.  And today I know the answer to both questions.  Failure is a negative state of mind.  Success is a favorable outcome.  And I have realized that yes, I have both at the same time every time I step on the scale.  I have success when I see that the number has gone down even if it is by 0.1 pounds- that is a favorable outcome, but failure because I myself see it negatively...why isn't the number bigger?

Learning to not be afraid of failure is the hardest thing I have had to learn this year.  Failure is an option but so is getting up and trying again. I have learned it's all about mind set.  Set your mind to the positive and find success.

Sick

It's been a long 10 days.  I caught a summer cold that started with a sore throat and ended with bronchitits.  The bronchitis slowed me down, way down.  I skipped the gym for nearly two weeks and even walking was getting me out of breathe.  I however am on a the road to recovery.
I hit a mile stone today.  I was 148.9 on the scale at the doctors today which qualified me for cheaper health insurance.  Yea me!

How far I've come

It's funny to think how far I have come over the last five and a half months.  I started my weight lose journey on January 2nd and hopefully it will end on December 31st.  I figured a full year to get to my goal would be reasonable.  After all I want to lose it and learn a new healthier lifestyle so next years journey of learning to maintain will be easier.
Anyway, today I learned just how far I've come... I was told I have to get a new picture for my YMCA card since I know longer look like my picture, I've lost 27 pounds since it was taken.  I have also tried on my oldest holyest jeans from high school (yes i kept a pair) and they fit not nearly as well as they did eleven years ago but I can pull them up and zip them without sucking in my stomach.

Warrior dash results

This warrior dash was way harder then the two i did last year.  Instead of one giant hill there were three.  I finished in 1:01 which was good enough for 220 th place out of 1180 people in my age group.  Not too bad.

Inches

Losing inches is not cheap.  All of my summer clothes are starting to get really big.  See all of my summer clothes were a size bigger then my normal everyday clothes since i always entered summmer fat after a long long long winter.  So now my clothes are about three sizes to big.  This has been a good month for inches just not weight.  But i am more then half way to my goal.
This weekend is the warrior dash and i am completely prepared this year.  I should finish in 42 minites.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.
